Odyseusz, a New Internet Website for Registering Travellers from Poland

October 23, 2014

This portal is also available in mobile version. We encourage Polish tourists who travel abroad to report their trips at www.odyseusz.msz.gov.pl.

“The tragedy in Nepal has shown us that Polish consular services need information about Poles who travel abroad,” Grzegorz Schetyna, head of Polish diplomacy, said when presenting Odyseusz, an Internet platform for registering travellers.

www.odyseusz.msz.gov.pl  - at this address Poles who travel abroad may report their trip to consular services.

The Foreign Minister stressed that Polish consuls should have as much data and information as possible that would allow them to react quickly and effectively when our citizens are in danger abroad. He noted that this was why the new platform had been established.

“Odyseusz” will ensure safety to Polish travellers in case of unforeseen events or emergencies. In crisis situations such as disasters, terrorist attacks or social unrest information on potential threats and how to avoid them will be quickly sent by e-mail or SMS.

“Recent events in Nepal show that it is essential that we have information about people who stay in a given area and about their number, so that we can quickly provide effective assistance,” said Andrzej Jasionowski, deputy head of the Department of Consular Affairs.

In special circumstances, the platform allows the consul to contact the travellers in need of assistance. Information on persons who stay in unsafe regions will also allow for planning evacuation properly if needed. SMS information will only be sent by consular offices in crisis situations.

Using the portal is entirely free of charge. Registering an account and reporting your travel is absolutely voluntary, said the deputy head of the Department of Consular Affairs. Registering in the system is only meant to ensure that care and assistance may be provided when necessary. Mr. Jasionowski stressed that personal information is removed from the portal automatically 14 days after the end of the trip.
