The Kosciuszko Foundation Annual Dinner & Ball - Saturday, April 25, 2015 in NY

April 10, 2015

Ninety years ago, on the 150th anniversary of Tadeusz Kosciuszko's enlistment in the American Revolutionary cause, a group of Americans created the Kosciuszko Foundation, a living and enduring memorial to Tadeusz Kosciuszko. The goal of the Foundation was to actively promote intellectual and cultural relations between Poland and the United States - the two countries Kosciuszko so nobly served. The founders started from scratch.

Today the Kosciuszko Foundation is housed in a magnificent building of its own located in the Upper East Side Manhattan; has a remarkable collection of Polish paintings, awards up to $1 million annually in grants, fellowships and scholarships to both Polish and Polish American students and scholars, and hosts a wide variety of cultural and educational programs.

THE KF ANNUAL DINNER & BALL
In 1928, the Kosciuszko Foundation hosted a dinner to honor Ignacy Jan Paderewski and soon after began holding an annual fundraising gala to support its operations. The first Annual Ball took place in 1933 at the Hotel Pennsylvania in NY, and moved to the luxurious Waldorf-Astoria in 1936.

On April 25 we will celebrate the 80th Annual Dinner and Ball. We're going to give everyone an opportunity to party, dance, and network at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel's Grand Ballroom. The First Lady of Poland Mrs. Anna Komorowska is this year's Honorary Chairwoman, while Mrs. Christine Kuskowski and Dr. Mary Kay Pieski, who have been running the KF Teaching English in Poland Program for 25 years, are Chairwomen of the Ball. We will honor: Mr. Juliusz Machulski, one of Poland's best-known directors; Mrs. Wanda Senko, long-time Polonia activist; Mr. Sigmund Rolat, Holocaust survivor who has built bridges of reconciliation between Poles and Jews; and Dr. Zbigniew Darzynkiewicz, Director of the Brander Cancer Research Institute at the New York Medical College and spiritus movens of the Kosciuszko Foundation's Collegium of Eminent Scientists of Polish Origin and Ancestry. Proceeds will go toward conserving the Foundation's magnificent collection of Polish artwork and refurbishing the Kosciuszko Foundation House.
