Fabinho a Groundbreaking Transfer for Manchester United

One of the issues for Manchester United in the 2016/2017 season was the lack of a consistent, technical third midfielder. Maroune Fellaini resembled a physical but limited asset, as his passing never had any impact for United either in the Premier league or in the Europa League. Michael Carrick, for his legendary experience at the club, just doesn’t have the legs nor the physicality to be a consistent, genuine option for United for the difficult matches. Daley Blind and Timothy Fosu-Mensah don’t have the quality/experience to play at the level needed for the Red Devils come next season.

The addition of Fabinho would allow Herrera and Pogba play in a more advanced and creative role. The lack of a quality defensive midfielder meant that the aforementioned two had to have a more reserved role in the much more competitive matches. Fabinho would be a solid option to allow said creativity to flourish.

Besides this, Fabinho can play other positions quite comfortably. He has featured as a right back and a centerback for his Monaco side, and has performed admirably in these roles. This allows Jose Mourinho some variety considering when it’s time to set up to set up his squad.
