A few years ago, truly sensational information started to circulate among the musicians in London about a discovery at the British Museum. That discovery had to do with an unknown score composed by Prince Jozef M. Poniatowski, cousin of the last king of Poland.
Prince Poniatowski was not only a soldier and known politician during the reign of Napoleon III, but also a talented opera singer and composer of Bel Canto operas and a director of Theater Lyrique in Paris. According to experts, the quality of the newly discovered score of the Mass in F was on the level of the most known and loved musical works created by the XIX century Italian composers.
The organizers of this event are Polish Association of the Knights of Malta, USA and Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in America (PIASA). This concert will serve as a platform to introduce an international audience to a beautiful piece of music and serve as a reminder of Poland’s place within the European and world history.
This event is a Charity Gala. Our goal is to raise funds for Polish Association of the Knights of Malta’s Hospital in Barczewo in Poland as well as their Center For Disabled Children in Grobniki, Poland.
The World Premiere and Gala Concert of the Mass in F took place at Westminster Cathedral Hall in London in June 2015 under the patronage of Cardinal Vincent Nichols and the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to The Court of St. James’s. The event was organized by the Polish Association of the Knights of Malta and Polish Heritage Society UK.
The New York premiere of the Mass in F, under the patronage of His Excellency Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Mr. Piotr Wilczek, will take place on June 7, 2018, at St. Bart’s Church, located at 325 Park Avenue in Manhattan. This venue is well known for its unparalleled acoustics, as well as for presenting classical music concerts that include voices from among others, Metropolitan Opera. St. Bart’s can accommodate over 1000 people.
